Biography

Yuan Yao is a final year Ph.D. student at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and has joined Capecelatro Research Group since August 2016. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Currently, his research focus is on numerical modeling and algorithm developments for the transport and deposition of fine particulates in turbulence, especially in the presence of cohesive forces such as electrostatics and van der Waals, which also involve reduced-order modeling and uncertainty quantification.

Research interests:

  • Turbulence
  • Particle-laden flows
  • Numerical linear algebra
  • High-performance computing
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics
